Practical guide

What this sign pdf tool is for

Draw a signature and place it visibly on a PDF for informal or routine signing workflows.

Best for: Acknowledgements, internal forms and documents where a drawn electronic signature is acceptable to the recipient.

How it works in practice

A drawn signature image is not the same thing as a cryptographic digital signature backed by a certificate. Legal and organizational requirements vary, so the receiving party decides what type of signature is acceptable.

Example: A supplier form may accept a drawn signature. A regulated filing may require a certificate-based digital signature or a specific e-signature platform instead.

Before you use it

  • The tool does not create a certificate-backed digital signature.
  • It does not independently verify the signer’s identity.
  • Some institutions require a particular e-signature service or audit trail.

Tips for a better result

  1. Ask the recipient what signature format they require before signing an important document.
  2. Place the signature inside the intended signature field without covering nearby text.
  3. Keep the unsigned original in case a different signing method is requested.
Privacy note: Core file/text transformations are designed to run in your browser. The page can still load normal website resources and third-party libraries/models. See our Privacy Policy and tool testing notes for details.

Implementation description

How this specific tool processes your input

Captures a hand-drawn signature from a browser canvas, embeds it as a PNG image and places it on page 1 near the bottom-right corner.

Verification checklist

  • Confirm the signature appears on the intended page and location.
  • Check whether the recipient accepts image-based electronic signatures.

Use another method when…

Use a certificate-backed digital-signature service when identity validation, tamper evidence or regulated signing is required.

This section describes the implementation shipped with My Tools HQ. Verify important outputs before relying on them.

Questions about Sign PDF

/ useful answers
Is a drawn signature the same as a digital certificate signature?

No. A certificate-based digital signature includes cryptographic verification; a drawn signature is a visible mark placed on the document.

Is this legally binding?

Legal effect depends on jurisdiction, document type, intent, consent and recipient requirements. The tool itself does not provide legal certification.

Does the site keep my signature?

Core processing is designed to happen in your browser; review the site Privacy Policy for the current data-handling details and third-party resources.
