Color Picker

Pick a color, get HEX / RGB / HSL instantly.

HSL: 36°, 79%, 57%
Practical guide

What this color picker tool is for

Choose a color visually and copy equivalent HEX, RGB or HSL values for CSS, design systems and prototypes.

Best for: Front-end styling, quick mockups and translating a chosen color between common web formats.

How it works in practice

HEX and RGB describe red, green and blue channel values; HSL expresses hue, saturation and lightness. Converting between them should represent the same sRGB color, subject to rounding.

Example: #FF0000, rgb(255, 0, 0) and hsl(0, 100%, 50%) are different notations for the same basic red in sRGB.

Before you use it

  • A screen color does not guarantee the same printed appearance.
  • Display calibration and color profiles affect what you see.
  • Contrast/accessibility cannot be judged from a single color alone; foreground and background must be evaluated together.

Tips for a better result

  1. Check text/background contrast before using a color for body copy.
  2. Store design-system colors as variables/tokens rather than scattering raw values through CSS.
  3. For print work, use a color-managed workflow rather than relying only on browser RGB values.
Privacy note: Core file/text transformations are designed to run in your browser. The page can still load normal website resources and third-party libraries/models. See our Privacy Policy and tool testing notes for details.

Implementation description

How this specific tool processes your input

Converts a selected sRGB color between HEX, RGB and HSL notation using straightforward channel math. These notations can describe the same screen color but do not predict print appearance.

Verification checklist

  • Check foreground/background contrast separately.
  • Test critical colors on target devices if brand consistency matters.

Use another method when…

Use a color-managed design workflow for print, wide-gamut production or accessibility certification.

This section describes the implementation shipped with My Tools HQ. Verify important outputs before relying on them.

Questions about Color Picker

/ useful answers
Are HEX and RGB different colors?

They are different notations that can represent the same sRGB channel values.

Why does the color look different on another screen?

Displays vary in calibration, brightness, gamut and color management.

Does this check accessibility contrast?

A picker selects a color; contrast requires comparing at least two colors against accessibility criteria.
