Useful browser tools, with the limitations explained
My Tools HQ is an independent utility website that brings common PDF, image, text, developer and calculator tasks into one straightforward interface.
Why the site exists
Many small digital tasks do not justify installing a desktop application or creating another account. The site is designed for those moments: merging a few PDFs, resizing an image, checking a word count, validating JSON or estimating a loan payment.
We do not want convenience to come with exaggerated claims. Each tool page explains what the browser implementation does, where results can differ from specialist software and what users should check before relying on an important output.
How the tools are built
The site uses JavaScript, browser APIs and selected open-source libraries. Core file/text transformations are designed to run in the browser where practical. Some features can load supporting libraries, fonts or machine-learning models from third-party content delivery networks; those network requests are described in the Privacy Policy.
How we review quality
We check tools against representative examples and document known limitations rather than presenting every conversion as perfect. For example, a PDF-to-Word workflow cannot always reconstruct a complex page layout, and a browser loan calculator cannot include lender-specific fees it has not been given.
See How We Build & Test Tools for the checklist used across the site.
Changes and corrections
September 23, 2026: The former “PDF to PDF/A” label was corrected to “PDF Metadata Refresh” because its browser implementation does not create a conforming PDF/A file. PDF compression now avoids downloading a larger replacement and PDF-to-Word feedback no longer claims all source text was preserved. Tool pages link directly to the problem report form. September 23, 2026, later update: The metadata tool now lets users edit title, author and subject at /pdf-metadata-editor/; the old address redirects. The guides now include task scenarios, failure cases and output checks. The image converter validates source formats and image compression no longer offers a larger output as a saving. This log records actual changes; it does not imply a fixed publishing schedule.
Corrections and contact
If you find a broken workflow, unclear explanation or factual issue, please use the Contact page. Reports are reviewed so the tool or guidance can be corrected.
